Bake your Bricks!
Posted Nov 11, 2022Trying to get a little more heat in your house without using any more energy? Throw some bricks in the oven when you bake! If you are heating the oven, put a few bricks in the oven on a baking sheet. It is important for safety to only use bricks purchased from a store-- rocks, stones, or bricks that were sitting in the yard contain moisture that will cause them to explode in your oven while heating.
When you are finished, set the bricks on the back of the stove and they will continue radiating heat for at least another 15 to 20 minutes. Make sure they are where no one will lean on them and burn themselves.
